Visual Resources Internship
The Visual Resources Internship is awarded biannually to a student pursuing graduate studies in the Arts of the Americas area of art history. The student must be enrolled, in good standing and in residence at the University of New Mexico.
Duties and responsibilities:
The Intern will complete a project to be determined by the Bunting Visual Resources Library. The project must be related to the student's primary area of study.
Projects may include:
- Researching or cataloging visual resources collections
- Developing indices and guides to the collections
- Assisting in classification system design for the collections
- Enhancing the VISIC or VIRCONA database
Eligibility:
- Academic preparation and knowledge in the history of art related to the arts of the Americas
- Interest in or previous experience in special collections, archival or visual resources work
- A personal statement relating how the internship would benefit the applicant's career, specifying the area(s) of the arts of the Americas of interest
- Two recommendations from individuals familiar with the applicant's academic and/or work experience; Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Digital Media Internship
The Digital Media Internship is awarded biannually to a student purusing graduate studies at the University of New Mexico preferably in the College of Fine Arts. The student must be enrolled, in good standing and in residence at the Albuquerque campus of the University of New Mexico.
Duties and responsibilities:
The intern will complete a digital media project to be determined by the Bunting Visual Resources Library.
Projects may include:
- Developing and maintaining web accessible image reviews for College of Fine Arts courses
- Building, researching or documenting digital image collections
- Developing user guides and manuals for the use of image review software
- Collaborating with UNM's New Media Group and/or General Library's Electronic Reserves Group to develop database interfaces to deliver images and data to the web
Eligibility:
- Academic preparation and knowledge in the history or practice of the arts as related to the degree programs of the College of Fine Arts
- Interest in or previous experience in digital imaging with emphasis on scanning, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, and basic website design
- A personal statement relating how the internship would benefit the applicant's career, specifying a possible digital media project area
- Two recommendations from individuals familiar with the applicant's academic and/or work experience; Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
